Music
At Snodland Church of England Primary School, we value the importance of the music curriculum and the skills embedded within this curriculum, which helps to prepare children for life beyond primary school. Our music curriculum is supported by Charanga and follows the Model Music Curriculum.
Throughout the school, children are introduced to a wide range of musical styles to enable them to appreciate and build up a comprehensive musical understanding. Children learn to read and use musical notation from Year 3 upwards.
Children in Year 4 have whole class instrument lessons taught by a teacher from Kent Music throughout the school year. This year the children will be learning the ukelele.
Three times a year, we hold a 'Music Showcase' performance. This gives children who learn a musical instrument a great opportunity to perform. The choir also performs along with classes performing the songs that they have been learning in their music lessons.
'Andrew Parry Music' provide 1:1 or group music instrumental lessons. Children have the opportunity to learn how to play one of the following instruments;
- Piano/ keyboard
- Guitar
- Electric drum kit
These lessons are based in school, during school time. Please speak to Miss Rebecca Nicholls or visit Andrew Parry Music for further information.
Children can choose to join our school choir, which rehearses weekly after school. The choir regularly sing at ‘Young Voices’ at Wembley with children from Year 3.
