Pupil Premium
Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.
In the 2024 to 2025 financial year, Primary schools will receive £1480 for each child registered as eligible for free school meals or those who have been at any point in the last 6 years.
Schools will also receive £2570 for each pupil identified in the October school census as having left local-authority care because of 1 of the following:
- adoption
- a special guardianship order
- a child arrangements order
- a residence order
If a pupil has been registered as eligible for free school meals and has also left local-authority care for any of the reasons above, they will attract the £2570 rate.
Children who have been in local-authority care for 1 day or more also attract £2570 of pupil premium funding. Funding for these pupils is managed by the virtual school head (VSH) in the local authority that looks after the child.
Our Intentions
All members of staff and Governors at Snodland CEP School accept responsibility for children who receive Pupil Premium funding and are committed to meeting their social and academic needs within the school environment. We are committed to narrowing the gap between vulnerable pupils and the Pupil Premium forms a vital part of that process.
At Snodland CEP School we recognise that not all children who receive FSMs will be socially disadvantaged and also recognise that not all children who are disadvantaged have FSMs.
Below is a document to show our Pupil Premium spending for last year and our plans for the current financial year. Not all interventions are measurable in terms of attainment outcomes but research shows that wider opportunities and extended provision can raise self-esteem and increase learner confidence.
